Audemars Piguet’s new Royal Oak Offshore watches are made for adventure

Accurate, durable and performance-driven, Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak Offshore timepieces are ready for any adventure – from land to sea to sky.

Recently, the brand added three new iterations to the ever-popular collection, which incorporate the latest art materials in eye-catching color combinations.

But their beauty is not only skin deep; each of the new watches also boasts a sapphire-crystal caseback, allowing a full view of its hand-finished mechanical movement.

They are fitting additions to the Royal Oak collection, which has been a mainstay since it was introduced in 1972. The original watch design was conceived and drawn in a single night by renowned Swiss watchmaker and artist Gérald Genta.

Executives at Audemars Piguet, which has been family-owned since its founding in 1875, took the bold step of working with the watch in stainless steel, a metal rarely seen in the luxury watch category.

Its octagonal bezel (marked by eight screws) and stainless steel link bracelet were also innovative, causing quite a stir at the 1972 Swiss watch show in Basel.

In the half century that followed, the collection has achieved iconic status.

This latest Royal Oaks production builds on that remarkable heritage, with three new timepieces in 37 and 43mm sizes that are sure to catch the attention of Audemars Piguet fans.

According to the brand, the new 37mm Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding watch is “designed for smaller wrists”. Its rose-gold case is protected by a gray rubber-coated bezel with a matching mosaic-patterned rubber strap. It is equipped with Audemars Piguet’s latest automatic movement, Caliber 5900.

Meanwhile, the 43mm Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding watch is now available in stainless steel with a blue rubber-coated bezel and matching rubber strap. It is equipped with the brand’s patented Caliber 4302 movement, which ensures precision and stability when setting the watch.

A stainless steel Royal Oak self-winding offshore chronograph with a smoked ombre dial in Méga Tapisserie bronze completes the new offerings. It is equipped with Audemars Piguet’s latest mechanical chronograph movement, Caliber 4401, which can take several new time measurements consecutively without interrupting or resetting its timing mechanism. The color inspiration for the warm brown shade and alligator strap of the chronograph is “Habano”, referring to the shade of Cuban cigars.

Around the dial, the watch’s tachymeter is printed on its inner black bezel. With water resistance up to 100 meters, it’s ready to go wherever your travels may take you.

So where might Royal Oak go next? While the privately owned brand won’t reveal what the future holds, Audemars Piguet’s motto – “Seek Beyond” – may provide a clue.
